EU Allocates €1.5 Billion Tranche to Ukraine to Support the Country and Repair Infrastructure

BRUSSELS, 25 July. /TASS/. The European Union has allocated another tranche of €1.5 billion to Ukraine as part of macro-financial assistance to support the country and repair infrastructure. This was announced on Tuesday by the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen.

“Today we paid another €1.5 billion to help the country function and repair infrastructure,” she tweeted.

As explained by the Deputy head of the EC Valdis Dombrovskis, thus, the EU provided Kyiv with €10.5 billion this year. According to him, Ukraine “is making good progress in implementing the conditions” for providing macro-financial assistance: strengthening the rule of law, increasing energy efficiency and improving the investment climate.

The European Union promised Ukraine a macro-financial assistance program for 2023 in the amount of €18 billion.
