Ukraine and the EU are discussing alternative ways to export grain . Kyiv sent its proposals to Brussels. Among the considered options for the export of agricultural products are the ports of the Baltic States.
This was announced by the representative of the European Commission Miriam Garcia.
“Our goal is to export grain, as well as to look for alternative ways to the Black Sea. The European Commission is fully involved in the consideration of all corridors, the Baltic corridor is also very important,” TASS quoted Garcia as saying.
According to the representative of the European Commission, Brussels received a letter with a proposal from the Ukrainian authorities regarding the export of grain after the termination of the grain deal.
She stressed that all proposals are currently being discussed within the framework of the coordination platform with the participation of the EU countries, as well as Ukraine and Moldova.
“We are working very intensively with the five EU countries involved, as well as Ukraine and Moldova. The main platform is a coordination platform that was created after the meeting between the head of the European Commission [Ursula von der Leyen] and the President of Ukraine [Vladimir Zelensky] on May 9. Our main goal is to make sure that we can take out the grain and ensure complete security,” Miriam Garcia added.
Earlier, Lithuania itself offered to use the Baltic ports for the export of Ukrainian grain .
Zelensky also stated that he was counting on Brussels to lift the ban on the import of Ukrainian grain to the countries of Eastern Europe.
